About us
My name is Fran and I grew up in Switzerland where I lived until the age of 19 and have shared my life with dogs since the age of 6. My first dog was a yellow Labrador, then a Beagle, followed by a rescue Aussie Cross called Tina. Tina was my rock who got me through my teens. She was that one in a million dog who did everything with and for me. I did Heelwork to Music, Canine Cross, Flyball and Agility with her. Her absolute favourite was Agility and we even went to Italy for a big competition where we got 2nd!
Aged 19 I decided to pack my bags and move to England. I was always fascinated by the english way of living and felt like there were more opportunities in the UK. As I had to leave Tina with my parents in Switzerland, I decided to get my very own dog, a Border Collie called Keen. He was a very pushy dog that knew what he wanted and what he could get away with. Keen took me from Grade 1 to Grade 5 and together we qualified and placed at Crufts twice over the years and he was also the star in a TV commercial for the National Lottery.
One of my friends back in Switzerland had a little crossbreed that looked just like a small version of Tina. I started researching on the internet and found the “Mini Aussie”. I made it my mission to do as much research as possible to then be able to own one of these dogs. Unfortunately it took me 3 years to finally get the chance to. Due to the then 6 months wait to import a dog into the UK, I decided to go back to my family in Switzerland so the puppy wouldn't have to go into quarantine. As my plan was to eventually breed these dogs in the future, I decided to also import a male. I did a lot of research to get the right lines and conformation to start the breed in the UK.
My ambition is to breed healthy, well balanced and active little dogs. I will try and keep the size down to below 17 inches however we are dealing with nature so size can never be guaranteed. Although I will try and breed to the new breed standard, I will be completely honest and say that I am not breeding show dogs but working dogs. All of my dogs have been carefully chosen for what I am looking for in the breed, and thats an athletic, healthy dog that is well socialised.
My dogs will undergo a vast variety of health tests before having their first litter to ensure my puppies the best possible start in life.
I am very excited about the recent developments of the breed in America and being able to start the Minis off in the UK. I welcome anyone that is interested in a Mini or has any questions to contact me, I also speak German and would be happy to answer any emails in German.
